And the winner is...Bryin Lindoe
I’m donating this raffle knife to raise money for three groups that plant and protect our trees and forests.
I grew up in the countryside and have always loved trees. I love walking in forests, climbing trees, and working with beautiful wood.
As the Amazon burns and our climate warms all our lives are affected and it’s easy to feel helpless in the face of the climate emergency. One of the things we can do though is plant more trees. Trees are the lungs of our planet. They provide our oxygen, soak up carbon and pollutants, and provide wildlife havens. And we need a lot more of them.
I’ve chosen three great charities to support:
Kids Plant Trees - Raising money to plant trees in Sheffield. Their first project will be planting 1500 trees on Manor Playing fields:
The Woodland Trust - A UK charity that plans to plant a tree for every person in the UK. They look after 1000 woodlands and campaign to save our ancient forests.
Environmental projects in Brazil- Supporting community projects in the savannah in Brazil, one of the richest and most diverse biomes on the planet, critical to the survival of the rainforest. Ivan who manages the projects is an inspirational environmental campaigner who I was lucky enough to meet recently. Projects he organises there include organising volunteer fire fighters to tackle the raging fires and education projects teaching people to live sustainably.
